Congratulations to Lea!

MSc Defence

DynaMo master student Lea Gram Hansen successfully defends her MSc thesis

Today, DynaMo master student Lea Gram Hansen successfully defended her MSc thesis in Biology-Biotechnology in front of family, friends and colleagues. The title of Lea's thesis is 'Protein and metabolic engineering for microbial production of glucoraphanin'. Lea's project is part of a larger project aiming at production of the natural compund glucoraphanin in a microbial cell factory.  Glucoraphanin is a special kind of glucosinolates produced by the broccoli plant, and this is the substrate which makes broccoli extra healthy to humans; it is associated with a reduced risk of developing cancer and cardiovascular diseases. It is therefore very attractive to be able to produce the natural compund glucoraphanin in a microbial cell factory. In her MSc project Lea discussed some of the many challenges for microbial glucoraphanin production and during the defence she elaborated the topic even further.

Congratulations Lea!
