Welcome to Marie!
Marie Pireyre new PhD Student at DynaMo
On 15 September 2012 Marie Pireyre commenced as a PhD Student at DynaMo Center of Excellence. Marie just completed an MSc degree in in Genetic, Cellular and Pathologic Biology from Lyon University, France. Her two years master project was on plant biology with a special focus on plant meristems maintenance. She did characterize chromatin activation through a novel plant factor characterization and in another project she aimed at understanding the role of a microRNA in meristem maintenance and differentiation.
During her studies Marie attended five internships at four different laboratories, latest in Jennifer Fletcher’s Lab at Berkeley PGEC. Marie has developed proficient skills in molecular biology techniques such as cloning, protein production, Western Blot, EMSA as well as in electron microscopy, transmission and fluorescence. At DynaMo Marie will be part of the protein-protein interaction sub-group. The aim of her PhD project is to decipher the individual roles of three R2R3 MYB transcription factors’ regulation of glucosinolate biosynthesis in Arabidopsis thaliana. Her principal supervisor is Associate Professor Meike Burow, also from DynaMo.
