Welcome to Fangfei!
On 19 September 2022, Fangfei Niu started as a PhD student at DynaMo Center as part of the Villum Investigator project headed by Professor Barbara Ann Halkier.
The focus of Fangfei’s project is to map the phytochemicals exuded in rhizo- and phyllosphere and transporters at root and leaf epidermal borders.
Fangfei will map the chemicals exuded from roots of Arabidopsis Col-0 under various (a)biotic stresses using metabolomics. Additionally, the transporters present at the epidermal borders will be mapped using proteomics of FACS-sorted epidermal cells as well as existing single cell RNA seq data. By multi-omics integration of the data combined with data from yet-to-be-built VILLUM database on transporter activity of Arabidopsis transportome, physiological-relevant metabolite-transporter pairs will be identified and validated in planta.
Fangfei is trained in plant molecular biology and plant breeding and did her MSc in 2021 at the Kiel University, Germany. Her MSc project focused on glucosinolate synthesis and transporter gene investigations in oilseed rape (Brassica napus. L).
Fangfei is financed by a CSC fellowship grant from China during her PhD studies in Denmark.
